DTF Care Instructions

1. Turn Inside Out
• Flip the garment before it goes in the machine. This reduces direct agitation against the print surface and prevents friction against other garments or the drum wall.
2. Use Cold Water
• Wash in cold water. Hot water doesn't just affect the print — it accelerates color fading in the fabric itself and can weaken adhesive bonds over repeated cycles. Cold wash is good for the whole garment, not just the print.
3. Use a Mild Detergent
• Avoid bleach and optical brighteners — both degrade DTF inks over time. A standard dye-free liquid detergent is fine. This is the same guidance for screen-printed shirts, dark fabrics, or anything you don't want to fade.
4. Use a Gentle Wash Cycle
• Use the delicate or gentle cycle. High-agitation cycles put mechanical stress on any printed surface — DTF, screen print, or embroidery. Gentle mode cleans the garment without extra wear.
5. Avoid Fabric Softener
• Fabric softener coats fibers with a thin film that can interfere with the ink-to-fiber bond over repeated washes. It also reduces moisture-wicking in performance fabrics. Skip it on any garment with a DTF print — or any decorated garment, for that matter.
6. Hand Wash for Best Results
• For high-value merch, detailed artwork, or specialty garments you want to preserve the longest, hand washing in cool water is the best option. No agitation, no heat, no friction. Not necessary for everyday wear — just the gold standard for when it matters.
7. Air Dry When Possible
• Hang the garment or lay it flat away from direct sunlight. Zero heat risk, no mechanical tumbling. This is the easiest way to extend the life of any printed garment.
8. Tumble Dry on Low (if using a dryer)
• Low heat should be fine. Remove while still slightly damp, and let it finish air-drying — this also prevents the garment from over-drying and shrinking.
9. NO DRY CLEANING
• The solvents used in dry cleaning aren't compatible with DTF inks. Skip it.
